Tiranga

My latest commission is in Indian silk with hand embroidery. Tiranga means tricolour -the colours are really striking together and the pure silk gives a beautiful texture. The saffron orange stands for courage and the spirit of renunciation, white, for purity and truth and green for faith and fertility. The wheel (24 spokes!) represents movement and progress. Somehow the symbolism of the design made it a calming and therapeutic experience to make it!
